This barn with attached hog shed was built by Jonathan Fisher with help from local townsmen and stood until recent times.
He painted this watercolor picture of the barn in about 1826.
This watercolor picture of three kinds of hogs is done in Fisher's typical straightforward style.
The Fisher family provided for most of their food needs with the family farm that came to them as part of the parson's contract with the town.
This orchard map is thought to be one of the earliest complete records of an orchard plan in the country.
In 2010 planting was begun on the property to recreate the orchard following Fisher's plan. Seedlings from heritage stock have been carefully cultivated and are now taking root and bringing the orchard back to life.

This is a contemporary photograph of the surviving pear tree which has been on the property since it was planted by Jonathan Fisher. The picture was taken in winter from the house looking toward Blue Hill Bay which would have been visible in those times when the area had been logged to make room for homestead and pastures.
The location can be referenced in the painting Morning View - Blue Hill Village, which is described in the exhibit "A New Look at an Old Painting"
