At “the head of the bay” a misty mountain stands as a beacon for travelers from land and sea. Blue Hill – named by early explorers – has served as a navigational landmark since the early days of coastal exploration. From the first Native Americans who settled near the sheltered waters to the present day, farmers, fishermen, merchants, educators, artists, summer residents, and retirees have come to call Blue Hill their home. The community that has grown up at the foot of the mountain now encompasses a mix of people with many different backgrounds and a vibrant cultural life surrounded by wilds, woodlands and water.
